Lolo | RS2: Vietnam | UDK

Updated version of the map I submitted to Tripwire Interactive's Rising Storm 2: Vietnam 40 000$ mapping contest, in which I got honorable mention. FPS Territory mode map I made using assets from RS2: SDK library.

The Map is based on Operation Lam Son 719's attack on LZ Lolo. Defending team trying to hold LZ Lolo as long as possible from the attacking NVA team. After that, following a retreat to ARVN Firebase, as the final objective. Transport helicopter that could be used to bring players closer to objectives.

I wanted to make the map borders to look seamless when flying a helicopter so I needed to model a custom river mesh. I also gave the map some historical accuracy by the placement of the River, the road and LZ Lolo on the map, to match the real life locations.

LZ Lolo, First Objective. Attackers can come from all direction. High ground gives defenders advantage. Well coordinated team can survive until lockdown and win the game.

Objective C, further away from the B and C. Acts as a side objective. Faster to capture than normal obj. Empty space for defending team chopper to land troops as their ground spawn is further a way than normally. Makes transport pilots more important.
